About Kamogawa

Kamogawa is the name of a river. "Kamo" is the actual name of the river and "gawa" means river.

Kamogawa, Kamo river, is one of Japan's first-class rivers running through the Kyoto region.

Actually, Kamogawa has three Chinese characters, Kanji, which are 賀茂川, 加茂川 and 鴨川. The official one is 鴨川 and others are used by customs.

The source of Kamogawa is Kumogahata river from Mount Sajikigatake. It is joined into Nakatsu river and then, becomes the first-class river, Kamogawa. Shizuhara river, Kifune or Kibune river, Kurama river and Takano river are joined after and finally it flows to Katsura river.

Since Kamogawa is running through ancient Kyoto, many historical stories are recorded.
