About Taki-ishi

Taki-ishi is one of categories of Suiseki.

Taki-ishi literally means Waterfall Stone.

As its name suggests, Taki-ishi is stone which has penetration of silica or lime looks like waterfall.

Although there are several variations in waterfall, Cascade, Horsetail, Plunge, Ledge waterfall, etc., the most important point of Taki-ishi is not waterfall itself but the overall atmosphere.

It is not only for Taki-ishi, but the important point of all Suiseki stones is the overall atmosphere.

By the way, if silica or line is going round the stone, it is called headband or loincloth and considered to be worthless.
