Shonaigawa-ishi-I, 庄内川石
Shonaigawa-ishi-I
I believe that Shonaigawa stones are good stones for Suiseki as Setagawa stones.
I would like to introduce some of them here.
Shonaigawa-ishi, Ash Glay
This is Ash Glay Shonaigawa stone. In wet condition, it turns to almost black and good color for Suiseki.
Hadaai, the condition of the surface is Nashiji.
Shonaigawa stones is hard and therefore, Jagure or detailed shape is little but abstract shape.
This photo is the same stone but dry condition.
The color is not True black but Ash gray.
I like this texture.
Zooming in, there is the signs of cordierite fallen off. It is complexed texture but only on the surface, so it is hard and dense.
I believe that there are many good stones from Suiseki in Shonai river, however, they are very minority in Suiseki.
